These are a couple of the ornaments that my grandmother used to make. I have been trying to find patterns for them, and have found patterns for all but these 2. I have come across some that are close, but not close enough. I am still new at beading, so would not have much luck creating the pattern myself. If anyone has info that would be helpful I sure would appreciate it!Sunday, November 8, 2009

Hats & scarves

These hats and scarves I made recently with leftover yarn. The maroon is a brushed acrylic, and the purple/white set is a combination of Baby Sport by Red Heart (white), worsted weight (purple with multi-colored specks), and fun fur (purple/pink). The maroon set is nice and soft, I used the "Frosted Chevron Set" pattern designed by Christina Romo, from Crochet Fantasy, December, 1989 (p.26). The purple/white hat came out nice, but the scarf is a bit stiff (worked with mainly single crochet and chain stitch). The pattern I used was "Tweed scarf & cloche" by Katherine Eng, taken from the Aug-Sept, 1995 issue of Crochet Home (p.34).

Baby hat/mitten/booty sets

I recently made these to donate. The yarn I used is a combination of Caron and Baby Sport by Red Heart. I used patterns from Vanna White's Afghan and Crochet Favorites. The boys set is from "For Baby 5", and the girls is from "For Baby 25" (I modified the girls booties a little bit). I found mitten patterns online at http://bellabambinaknits.blogspot.com/2009/09/baby-mittens.html .

Dolphin afghan

I made this afghan for a friend of mine. She loves dolphins. One of the few times in my life I will work with fillet chart-patterns. The entire afghan is worked with single crochet's --- very tedious! This afghan was worked from a kit, purchased from Mary Maxim (16999 Dolphin of Dreams)The backing is the creation of my mother's, who is an accomplished quilter. There is a thin layer of batting, with sheet-like material for the lining.
